San Francisco, Calif. (March 16, 2017). This year, for its fourth year, Music Expo is back with a conference that is bigger and better than ever before. Hosted in association with the world's premier music recording technology magazine, Sound on Sound, The Music Expo is the perfect event for anyone interested in the art of making music. In 2017, attendees can expect better more innovative educational sessions, more studio sessions, interactive exhibitions, more in-depth product demos, and exclusive brand immersion, all with a vibe everyone can groove to. The expo will also be announcing the winners of the Remix Awards, a remix contest giving artists exposure to the biggest names in the industry.

Last year, Music Expo experienced over 50% year over year growth, and 2017 is shaping up to bring another year of unprecedented growth. Music Expo was such a success in San Francisco, the group decide to spread the love across the nation.  The conference will be headlining in:

Miami: May 13th at the SAE Institute, Boston: June 10th at iZotope, and in San Francisco: November 11th at the SAE Expression College, with another potential date to be added in Nashville.

The musical majesty kicks off 2017 in Miami. Frank Socorro, Career Services Representative at SAE Institute Miami, shared his feelings, saying: “we are very excited to bring a conference, that continues to be such a success with the Northern Californian music industry, to Miami, where there is a vibrant community of artists, producers and engineers”. The SAE Institute provides state of the art facilities, and all of the latest technologies in mixing, recording and editing.

The audience in Miami, as well as the other cities, is chock full of professionals from within the music business, offering the only networking opportunity of its kind to industry professionals. Attendees can expect to schmooze with representatives from Arturia, Yamaha, Ableton, RME, iZotope and other big-names, along with fellow artists, engineers, technophiles and tastemakers.

Nick Humbert, International Business Development Manager for Sound on Sound Magazine, had this to say about the event: “we are delighted to endorse and partner with Music Expo yet again in 2017. The events are always unique and bring all music makers together in an environment that encourages learning, collaboration, and performance. I am so glad the event is spreading to 3 new cities this year”.

With three locations confirmed, the event is more accessible than ever, with bigger names, more attendees, and an even brighter spotlight, this year’s Music Expo promises to be the best one yet. The results are in. Introducing the winners of the 2016 Remix Contest!

After an awesome day of music making mania at Music Expo SF 2016, we ended the day on the perfect note with the announcement of the winner and runners up of this year's global Remix Contest, in association with B-Side Project and international artists Con Brio. As we said when we announced the finalists, competition has never been tougher and the prizes never better.

All of the finalists submitted their own unique twist on the Con Brio track, "No Limits", to be judged by our influential panel. Making the final decision were Loic Maestracci, Founder of Music Expo SF, Yvette Chivers, Founder of B-Side Project, Brian Bonz, Artist Relations, ROLI, Con Brio and renowned Sonic Sculptor, Artist and Producer, Decap. But there could only be three who could take home one of the amazing prize packages up for grabs, which includes a global release of his/her remixed track and a publishing deal!

And this years Remix battle winners are:

evv'n'flo (dirtyrevival) Feat. Elton Cray, Portland Oregon

Check out evv'n'flo's Remix.

evv'n'flo was at a friend's wedding in Oregon and he couldn't be there to accept his prize, so we went to him. Amy, our MC from SF-EMM, called him in on skype to tell him he bagged the top prize!

evv'n'flo was born and raised in Portland, OR and has always lived in the city, except for a few influential years in Philadelphia. At a young age, when first pursuing music, he set his mind on becoming a full-time musician. Evan is a producer, guitarist and MC. He scores video, performs as a member of the soul/funk band Dirty Revival, produces beats, and teaches guitar lessons. The majority of his waking hours are spent focused on his craft.

Being a part of  Dirty Revival has become one of the most noteworthy parts of Evan's career. DR has been steadily grinding and working towards creating landmarks that will bring fulfillment to their lives. The band has shared the stage with George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Slick Rick, Michael Franti, Gift of Gab, Sir Mix-A-Lot and Nappy Roots, as well as completing several multi-regional tours.

evv'n'flo has recently been awarded 2nd place in the Portland edition of the 'istandard Producer Showcase', is currently producing material for Elton Cray's "Life of Mine Vol.3," and is developing music with DR in preparation for their upcoming tours.

The goal of being a career musician has started to coalesce; the groundwork to a fulfilling pursuit of his art has been built. The excitement continues and we're looking forward to seeing lots of evv'n'flo in the fututre!

evv'n'flo scored the top prize of an exclusive digital global release of his Con Brio remix, along with a publishing deal! Plus over $4,000 worth of gear and prizes from Yamaha, Universal Audio, iZotope, abelton, Coast Mastering, Lauten Audio, Decap and Sound on Sound magazine.

Speaker Spotlight - Roger Linn.png

Roger Linn

Paving the way for electronic music, Roger Linn’s musical journey meanders all the way through the 80’s, 90’s and 00’s across hip hop, indie and everything in between. In 1979 Roger brought us the LM-1 Drum Computer, the first sampled-sound, programmable drum machine, which together with his LinnDrum, provided the backing for countless 80’s hits. In the 90’s he left his mark on the burgeoning hip hop scene with his MPC series of drum machines for Akai. In the 2000’s the world was going Indie, so Roger Linn followed suite, introducing his AdrenaLinn guitar processors. This innovative equipment brought rhythmic signal processing to hits by John Mayer, Green Day and others. At Music Expo he’ll be telling us what the future holds for his infamous midi controller and giving us the ins and outs of his latest revolutionary piece. Read more about Roger and all of our speakers here.

Jessica Thompson

Jessica Thompson

Archiving, remastering and restoring historic recordings is an artform in its own right. Grammy-nominated Jessica Thompson is a renowned mastering and restoration engineer and archiving specialist. Some of her most notable restorations include historic recordings from the Bottom Line, Caffe Lena and Woody Guthrie Archives and the Newport Jazz and Folk Festival. But it was her remaster of Erroll Garner's iconic recording The Complete Concert By The Sea (Sony/Legacy) that was nominated for the Best Historical Album Grammy in 2016.
